Evening Marie (Eve) - a vivacious ex-pat New Yorker, is Suncokret's program manager, residential yoga therapist, energy worker, and spiritual life coach.
Stipe (Steve) - a laid-back Hvar Island native, is a certified chef and agro-tourism manager who acts as the chef, logistics manager, and local guide for Suncokret.
Together, we form a beautifully balanced, yin-yang team, welcoming you into our home and retreat space with the hope of sharing a unique retreat adventure that is co-created together with you!
Suncokret (pronounced "soon-so-kret") is the Croatian word for sunflower, and literally means "sun-revolver", an accurate description of the sunflower's devotional relationship toward the divine light of the sun, which, in turn, enables it to blossom to its fullest potential.
Mission: Suncokret is a metaphor for our own journey as individuals, as a couple, and as retreat cofounders. By combining our love, talents, interests, and experiences together into a sustainable holistic lifestyle, we have enabled one another to blossom like sunflowers in the sun. Davorka Tolic - TRE and Essential Oils Educator
Davorka has worked in the field of education for over 15 years. Her specialty is interpersonal relationships and soft skills. She was introduced to yoga 10 years ago and completed her 200-hour TTC with Sangha Yoga in Zagreb, Croatia, the course included Prenatal Yoga education. Ever since she has occasionally taught yoga in a local yoga studio. Her constant search for personal development led her to TRE (Tension Release Exercises) technique which she started practicing on her own. This eventually led to her decision to complete a year-long training as a TRE provider. In a personal quest to find a deeper connection to self and nature, Davorka began to blend her yoga and TRE® practices together with essential oils, which she considers to be a gift of mother nature that promotes our well being. Davorka offers individual training and workshops in Aroma Freedom Technique and Raindrop Massage. She also uses essential oils as part of TRE and yoga sessions.
What is TRE®
TRE® is an innovative series of exercises that assist the body in releasing deep muscular patterns of stress, tension, and trauma. The exercises safely activate a natural reflex mechanism of shaking or vibrating that releases muscular tension, calming down the nervous system. When this muscular shaking/vibrating mechanism is activated in a safe and controlled environment, the body is encouraged to return back to a state of balance.
Since this shaking mechanism in the muscles is part of our natural behavior as humans, everyone can benefit from TRE. This shaking of the muscles increases the resiliency of the body because it causes deep relaxation that naturally reduces stress levels. It can release emotions ranging from mild upset to severe anxiety whether it is caused by work stress, excessive worry, conflict in relationships, physical stresses or traumas from accidents.

Špela has has been interested in living a healthy lifestyle since she was a teenager. In recent years she has been drawn into the art of maintaining vitality and pursuing longevity (hormone yoga, Taoist practices, energy medicine, and traditional Chinese medicine).
In 2014 Spela had her first encounter with Face Yoga and loved its beneficial effects so much that she decided that more people should have access to this knowledge. A year later she became a certified Face Yoga Instructor and has been passionately sharing this knowledge ever since. She is well aware that each face is unique and therefore she guarantees an individual approach to each participant in her courses. Her biggest reward is her clients' enthusiasm when seeing the change they have achieved in a fairly short period of time.
During the retreat week you will find out what face yoga is and how it works. Špela will share with you how to reduce the negative effects that time, gravity and stress leave on our face, how to completelly naturally lift the face, diminish wrinkles and other signs of aging, what are the approaches to achieve a younger and more radiant appearance.
What is Face Yoga?
We are all well aware of the importance of training our body in order to keep it healthy, firm and beautiful. But many times we forget about our face where more than 50 muscles are present. As time passes by the gravity, stress, worries and negative feelings leave lasting trails on it.
Face yoga is a completely natural, non-invasive and health-enhancing method of rejuvenating your face.
Such training effectively transforms your facial muscles that have been weakened and overstretched by time, gravity and stress, back to a healthy, energized, well-toned condition. Moreover, it prevents healthy muscles from deteriorating and atrophying.
Practicing face yoga increases blood circulation to the face, neck, scalp, and hair, enriching every cell with more oxygen and nutrients and increases the production of collagen and elastin. Edina Husanovic - Mindfulness Art & Belly Dancing
Edina Husanovic is an artist, researcher and educator, with twenty years experience in teaching. She has also had twenty years practice in Buddhist Vipassana meditation as well as more than 5 years of yoga practice.
Since graduating from her Fine Art degree in 2000 with First Class Hons, she has traversed complex and varied educational and professional environments that have given her broad experience and skills. Her interest in cultural politics and performance art practice led her to complete a PhD at the University of Reading in 2017. Her thesis ‘Dis-Orient Express: Belly Dancing, Hybrid Identities and Performances of the Oriental Feminine Other’ deconstructed the politics of the Oriental Other through analysis of belly dance performances in various European geographies, along the route of the Orient Express.
In the last ten years, she has been lucky to spend long summers in Croatia, on the island of Hvar. Throughout the summers of from 2009-2017 she organised and led children’s summer art and dance workshops in Vrisnik, an ancient stone village. The workshops resulted in the first art exhibition in the village, an event that pulled the whole community together in a unique way, and was repeated over the following 8 years with even more success. The workshops were part of Open House Hvar, an international artist collective, where you can learn more about Edina's work.

Anita Ilicic - Zhineng Qigong & Yin-Inspired, Feel & Flow Yoga
Nature, traveling, exploring and discovering inner and outer space have always been important elements of my life. After many years of practicing yoga and meditation, I found that I was still searching for something and felt there was so much more to discover...
My Zhineng Qigong journey started in spring 2010 when it helped me to quickly recover from a lower back problem. That same year, the desire to dive more deeply into understanding what it is led me to China where I studied with different Zhineng Qigong and Taiji teachers, and where I completed a teacher training program in 2013.
I started sharing this powerful, transformative method in classes and workshops throughout Germany and in beautiful places in Europe thereafter, which enables me to connect my passion for exploring nature and traveling together with my newfound passion for Zhineng Qigong.
Zhineng Qigong has taught me to connect with the deep inner source of health, inspiration, and joy, to feel grounded, and re-connected with my heart. For me, it is a life-transforming tool, which teaches how to surf the ocean of life. The study and practice of Zhineng Qigong has become a never-ending journey. It's like climbing the highest mountain; the higher you climb, the farther and clearer the view becomes and the deeper the contact you make with your true self.
