Let's Meet Zelda Le Quellec

Zelda Le Quellec Tell us a little about yourself; what else do you do besides teach yoga and how did you get into yoga? Before becoming a yoga teacher, I studied law and worked for several years as a corporate legal advisor. About seven years ago, I chose to become self-employed, which gave me the freedom to travel, work remotely, and organize my time around well-being and the things that truly nourish me. I discovered yoga during a period of personal transition, when I was questioning my purpose and looking for a more meaningful life and activity. What began as a tool to manage stress gradually became a central pillar of my life. Over time, yoga evolved from a personal practice into something I felt deeply called to share with others. What was your life like before yoga? Before yoga, my life was very much rooted in the material world, which gave me a sense of security. At the time, my main aspiration was to find a stable, long-term job and to follow a conventional lifestyle: a career, a relationship, and a clear, predictable path. On the surface, things seemed to be working out. I had secured a permanent position, and I was in a long-term relationship. From the outside, it looked like I had everything one might wish for. But inwardly, I felt a growing sense of disconnection. Despite having achieved what I had planned for, something essential was missing. I was constantly striving to prove myself, caught up in external expectations, both mine and those of others. I lived mostly in my head, always focused on what was next, rather than being present in the here and now. In truth, I was mostly unhappy and had the deep feeling that I wasn’t in the right place. I was evolving in a toxic professional environment, which added to my inner discomfort. That period of my life slowly led me to question everything, and ultimately opened the door to a more conscious, authentic path, which yoga has helped me to walk ever since. In 2019, when I travelled to India, something shifted deeply within me. That journey opened internal doors I hadn’t even known existed. I began to realize that I could choose a different path, one that was more aligned with who I truly was. Deepening my yoga practice during that time brought me a sense of inner harmony and peace that I had never experienced before. It marked the beginning of a new chapter, where I started to reconnect with myself and live more intentionally. Zelda Le Quellec What would you say is the one best teaching from yoga? “Everything is temporary.” - This is one of the most powerful truths I've learned through yoga is that everything is temporary and cyclical. Just like the breath, physical sensation in the body, emotions, and the seasons — everything rises and falls, comes and goes. This awareness helps me stay grounded during challenging times and grateful during moments of joy. It brings a sense of peace, resilience, and trust in the natural flow of life.   Zelda Le Quellec What is your most memorable teaching experience to date? One of my most memorable teaching experiences was during my very first yoga retreat, in the Moroccan desert in March 2024. I led a sunset class in the middle of the dunes — the light was golden, the silence vast and powerful, and there was a sense of timelessness all around us. Practicing in such a raw, natural environment invited everyone to drop deeply into themselves. I could feel the group moving together with intention and presence, held by the stillness and the mystical vibes of the desert. It was incredibly humbling. After the session, we sat in silence watching the sun disappear behind the dunes, each of us with a big smile on our face — filled with peace, joy and gratitude. That class reminded me of the power of yoga when it’s practiced in connection with nature, and of how sacred and transformative shared moments like that can be. Do you have other passions aside from yoga? Besides yoga, I have a deep love for travel, especially when I can take the time to explore new places slowly and mindfully. Traveling allows me to step out of routine, discover new cultures, and connect with people and landscapes that expand my perspective. I also love being in nature going for long walks, hiking, or simply observing the beauty. Watching a tree sway in the wind, listening to birds, or noticing the sunrise and sunset throughout the day are simple but profound sources of joy for me. And then there's surfing — a practice that, like yoga, invites presence, surrender, and connection. Being in the ocean and riding the waves brings me a sense of freedom and vitality that I cherish deeply. All of these things — travel, nature, surfing — nourish me in different but complementary ways. They help me stay connected to myself and to the world around me. Zelda Le Quellec What do you hope participants will gain by attending your events at  Suncokret? My intention is to offer the participants a gentle space to slow down and reconnect with themselves physically, emotionally, and energetically. Through daily Hatha and Yin yoga classes inspired by the seven chakras, I hope to guide each person on a journey toward more balance, awareness, and inner harmony. Each session is more than just physical movement; it’s an invitation to reconnect with one-self, to be present, to breathe, to feel, and to move with intention. I also include simple practices like breathwork and meditation to help deepen the connection to oneself. I hope this retreat will feel like a meaningful pause, a moment to let go of what’s no longer needed, a time to create space for new intentions, and to leave feeling grounded, inspired, and reconnected. Being in the beautiful and peaceful setting of Suncokret makes this experience even more powerful. What are your plans for the future? I plan to continue deepening my practice and teaching, I also want to develop more retreats and workshops that focus on holistic well-being and personal transformation, creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves and the world around them. Beyond my professional path, I hope to continue my personal journey, build a family, and keep exploring the world, embracing both growth and connection in all areas of life.
