Suncokret (pronounced soon-tso-kret) or Sun.C. (sun-see) for short, is the Croatian word for sunflower, and literally means "sun-revolver", an accurate description of the sunflower's devotional relationship toward the divine light of the sun, which, in turn, enables it to blossom to its fullest potential.

Suncokret is the story of our destined meeting in 2003, which led to a marriage of diverse cultures, talents and life experiences, which each complimented the other, and gave birth to a unified vision of a dream-life, which we openly share with you.

Our dream is to surround you with the love we feel for each other, for the place we live and the work that we do - in the hope that we will inspire you to to reach for your own dreams and goals, as you blossom to your fullest potential under the warm rays of the divine Hvar sun. Namaste!

Evening - The Visionary

Yoga, Healing, Ki-Arts Host

Evening is a New Yorker with 30 years intuitive yoga experience, and 5 years dedicated teaching practice, who is as diverse in sprit and nature as is her native city. She holds a profound passion and respect for Hvar's natural beauty, which provides the perfect backdrop for her YoKiArt work - a combination of yoga, healing, and Fine Arts exploration.

Evening holds a Degree in Fine Arts from NYU. Her training in the arts began in early childhood and lead to an extensive professional background in music, film, television and theater. In 1999, she temporarily put her work in the arts on the side in pursuit of a deeper purpose in life. Her quest involved the studying of spiritual teachings and techniques, which eventually lead to the vision of what is today called Suncokret.

Suncokret is a creative, holistic wellness center where diverse souls with the common interest of exploring healthy, natural ways of understanding and fulfilling their life purpose come together to gain inspiration and support, while being sheltered in a beautiful, sacred environment.

Suncokret was born from the seed of Evening's original vision and carefully designed plan - which is now blossoming under the nurturing support provided by her partner, Stipe; created through the discipline of yoga, Reiki and Life-path Awakening, which she happily teaches to others on the path toward self-realization.

Stipe is a Hvar Native and has been blessed with a lifetime of hands-on experience in island traditions connected to the abundant, naturally medicinal, and spiritually rich environment of the island.

Stipe is an experienced chef whose special blend of organic, homegrown ingredients, mixed with TLC, will tantalize your tongue and nourishing your body and soul. Stipe is also an avid nature explorer. One of Stipe's greatest passions is to charter new pathways through the lesser-known, wilder side of the island, connecting to Hvar's ancient heritage; and sharing this revitalizing experience with adventurous souls from around the world.

Stipe's unassuming manor and graceful inner wisdom will charmingly guide you into the Dalmatian way of life; from learning to identify and pick fresh ingredients from the surroundings to create amazing dishes, to enjoying the simple pleasures of life on Hvar with an easy-going smile.

Stipe plays a vital role in manifesting the Suncokret vision. As the sun shines its life-affirming energy and enables the sunflower to blossom, so does Stipe provide the nourishing support which has enabled the Suncokret vision to sprout from the earth and fulfill its destiny.

Retreat Center

5 minutes from Port to Paradise SunC. Retreat Center is situated in a secluded section St. Ana of Dol, a pristine, 12th Century hamlet discretely nestled into the verdant brush & pine forest, which majestically rises above the island's oldest settlement, "Pharos", known today as Stari Grad (Old Town), which was established by the ancient Greeks in 3c. BC and remains steeped in history and culture.

St. Ana is often compared to France's "Provence" and Italy's "Tuscany", with its sprawling vineyards, noble olive groves, fragrant lavender plantations, fertile fields, and charming stone cottages; eloquently framed by the azure sea and sky, and brought to life by the colorful calls of nature and the friendly smiles of sun kissed villagers who welcome visitors to their little paradise with a knowing smile.

Located only minutes away from the island's major attractions, yet safely tucked away from bustling costal towns, St. Ana provides an ideal escape from ordinary life to an extraordinary organic haven.

The Concept

"The seeds of magic are planted in deeds, this I make true, so it will be! "

Our retreat sets the foundation for a magical adventure for the soul. It is an organic sojourn, in which every moment is an ascent to your center, and every level brings you closer to your dreams and goals. The retreat aim is to help each participant align with their True Self and the world around, so that together we may radiate light, peace & harmony onto the world we share.

Like every great tale, our journey begins with an introduction of the setting and of all of the main characters, after which a detailed plan of action toward the attainment of our goals is co-created (Sundays).

The rest of our journey involves steadily moving toward our desired goals. For some this proves easy, for others rather difficult; yet for all there is a challenge. Success is dependant upon the conscious will and right action of the story's characters, as well as that magical touch of of Divine intervention, which inspires us to move toward our life's greater purpose (Monday-Friday)...

This tried and true path leads to a climax of revelation, an omniscient overview of truth, beauty, victory - if even the smallest one. A celebration takes place, all is well, right and good (Saturday). Alas, we wrap up the last details of our story and say our bittersweet farewells. The outcome of the quest for unification of action with purpose, of self with Self resolves in a beautiful opening into the rest of our lives as we wave to one another at the foot of the ferry (Sunday morning).
